Jon Ross-Perkins 605763d62d Add lint fixes to the buildifier setup. (#3109)
The main motivation for this is to get python loads in using the
`native-py` lint fix. However, enabling that made me wonder, maybe we
should fix in general?

`native-cc` is delayed, but not wholly cancelled (and `native-py`
picking up might indicate `native-cc` won't be too far behind). There's
also some automated fixes for `.append` and dict sorting -- this felt
okay to me, maybe not something to eagerly add but probably not worth
stopping buildifier from fixing (I've noticed the warnings in the past
and had been ignoring them).

Running everything does mean that load orders are sorted automatically
now, which I think is a positive. Most generally, I think these fixes
aren't _harmful_, and having them done automatically seems beneficial:
my biggest concern about `native-py` and `native-cc` was actually that
regressions wouldn't be caught, but this addresses that issue
automatically.

Jon Ross-Perkins 96517a1ee3 Migrate explorer tests to file_test and remove lit support. (#3050)
This migrates explorer tests to file_test, using the new --autoupdate
functionality. Per discussion, the trace tests that were using "not"
output are mostly migrated to checking full output. The main exception
is tests that were including trace output from the prelude: the prelude
output is pretty long (multiple MB already) and I think it wasn't the
intent to include, only trace output from the small program.

This is the remaining use of lit support, so the supporting libraries
are also removed here.

Jon Ross-Perkins 9e03d5efe2 Change explorer's file_test to support argument passing to main. (#3032)
This shifts explorer's file_test to use ExplorerMain in order to be able
to pass arguments similar to how the command line would. It also means
that various output wrapping done by the command line is shared, no
longer copied by file_test.

In order to help make this work, I plugged vfs::FileSystem into
explorer, similar to how we're doing this on the toolchain side (might
try to share more code later). I was having trouble getting an overlay
working, I think due to how paths are specified -- but due to the issues
in fixing this, I'm just loading the prelude into the InMemoryFilesystem
for now.

Under this approach, I'm unifying more of the file versus string
handling. I think we should shift towards an approach where, like
toolchain code, anyone trying to use Explorer should use a vfs
implementation to supply code. This should reduce the number of distinct
code paths which we're maintaining/testing.

Short-term, this allows the trace testdata to be merged into file_test
with less special casing, using ARGS:. Long-term, it means that the
file_test knows the ARGS to pass to generate checks to match against,
which is the direction I'm planning for autoupdate.

Jon Ross-Perkins 3f24aa28b7 Introduce flag handling into file_test. (#3030)
I'm integrating absl flag support with a few thoughts here...

1. It simplifies the handling of files in file_test.
    - Removes the need for a separate subset target.
3. Looking forward, I'm planning to add a flag to allow for autoupdate
of golden files.
4. In explorer, there's been confusion about having file_test run tests
"twice" so hopefully it's clearer when it's a separate target with a
different flag on the target.

Jon Ross-Perkins d18c1347d7 Migrate compatible uses to TestRawOstream. (#2891)
Replacing direct raw_string_ostream uses. I figure the wrapper should be used more consistently.

There are still remaining raw_string_ostream uses that weren't compatible -- I'm continuing to look at those, but felt it was cleaner to have this on its own.

Jon Ross-Perkins 82f33ff384 Use new test framework in explorer to reduce per-test overhead (#2811)
Isolating test execution time (no build time included):

- Linux, `lit` test-per-file: Elapsed time: 28.214s, Critical Path: 13.97s
- Linux, `cc_test`-per-file: Elapsed time: 11.534s, Critical Path: 6.05s
- Linux, merged `cc_test` with 50 shards: Elapsed time: 11.677s, Critical Path: 11.17s
- Mac, `lit` test-per-file: Elapsed time: 295.686s, Critical Path: 20.00s
- Mac, `cc_test`-per-file: Elapsed time: 55.788s, Critical Path: 3.81s
- Mac, merged `cc_test` with 50 shards: Elapsed time: 16.269s, Critical Path: 7.54s

In GH actions:

- [Before](https://github.com/carbon-language/carbon-lang/actions/runs/4866602695/jobs/8678306144?pr=2799):
  - test / test (ubuntu-22.04, fastbuild) (pull_request_target) Successful in 20m
  - test / test (ubuntu-22.04, opt) (pull_request_target) Successful in 15m
  - test / test (macos-12, fastbuild) (pull_request_target) Successful in 36m
  - test / test (macos-12, opt) (pull_request_target) Successful in 21m
- [After](https://github.com/carbon-language/carbon-lang/actions/runs/4875154751/jobs/8697004066?pr=2811):
  - test / test (ubuntu-22.04, fastbuild) (pull_request_target) Successful in 10m
  - test / test (ubuntu-22.04, opt) (pull_request_target) Successful in 9m
  - test / test (macos-12, fastbuild) (pull_request_target) Successful in 12m
  - test / test (macos-12, opt) (pull_request_target) Successful in 9m

I'm still leaving a handful of `lit` tests to test end-to-end binary execution. This is why testdata directories are split (`lit` tests next to the `explorer` binary, the `cc_test`s next to `ParseAndExecute`).

Jon Ross-Perkins b1ee45c1e4 Extract ParseAndExecute as its own library. (#2813)
Currently ParseAndExecute-style logic is done in main.cpp and a test. #2799 is adding another test that needs it, as is #2811.

Also more clearly marks fuzzing as testing.

This is being extracted out of #2799 in order to try unblocking progress while review continues.

Richard SmithandChandler Carruth 807ef98758 Replace RTTI generation script with macros. (#2703)

Jon Ross-PerkinsandRichard Smith 9df70fb115 Disable most tracing in the prelude. (#2616)
This is intended to address currently flaky timeouts that are likely caused by the size of the prelude. I'm addressing a performance bottleneck in AnalyzeProgram with trace output. Trying to omit prelude traces reduces most trace output significantly, and I think it'll scale better as the prelude size increases.

The basic mechanics here are:

- In order to consistently track whether tracing is on, I've added a TraceStream class, explorer/interpreter/trace_stream.h.
- The AST now has a num_prelude_declarations field, so that it's provided where the boundary is.
- In order to mark where we try to skip prelude output, I've added calls to set_in_prelude in type_checker.
- In exec_program, I just use num_prelude_declarations directly to skip over.
- Everywhere checks TraceStream::is_enabled before printing, similar to the std::optional check that was previously used.

This does add some timing output in order to better diagnose where slowness is coming from, when tracing. It also adds "verbose" targets to make it easier to get the trace output.

So for example, here's a timing for zero.carbon:

```
Timings:
- Parse: 13ms
- AddPrelude: 25ms
- AnalyzeProgram: 116ms
- ExecProgram: 12ms
```

If I make a small change to just not set skipping_prelude (essentially getting back to current output):

```
- Parse: 13ms
- AddPrelude: 25ms
- AnalyzeProgram: 2359ms
- ExecProgram: 57ms
```

Thus in this trivial example, I'm eliminating about 95% of the execution time.

Note this approach could still be refined in a few ways:

- We could add a flag to allow overriding in_prelude. It should be a small amount of work after this change. But it's a little consistent with how parser_debug works, that it won't print prelude output by default (unless there's an error).
- Execution could skip messages involving initialization of globals declared in the prelude. This is a little noisy right now, but I don't think it's significant for performance because ExecProgram is tiny.
- Once files are more separated, we should be able to change the num_prelude_declarations/set_in_prelude approach.

Jon Ross-Perkins c451a5004d Add LLVM_SYMBOLIZER_PATH to the standard cc_binary environment. (#2291)
LLVM_SYMBOLIZER_PATH is required if `llvm-symbolizer` isn't in the developer's PATH. This sets it via bazel instead of having a developer handle it. I noticed this because the apt install of clang doesn't put llvm-symbolizer in the PATH.

I'd like to make this the default without putting it everywhere, but I don't see a way to do this intrinsically through [the toolchain](https://bazel.build/docs/cc-toolchain-config-reference), and the [rules_cc/defs.bzl](https://github.com/bazelbuild/rules_cc/blob/main/cc/defs.bzl) remains a thin wrapper around the native cc_binary.

Since I'm adding another env, it seems undesirable to have the macos asan workaround separate. As a consequence, this merges it in. Note bazel doesn't support merging a dict and a select, so it's also necessary to have the two env vars at least mildly aware there's something up (and this could get worse if we end up having more selects).

Jon Ross-Perkins 0b9bda10b7 Refactor common main logic (#2260)

4) Fix what's maybe a bug in passing `relative_prelude_path.str()` to `cl::init`

Jon Ross-Perkins 6ce534a1e3 Add support for silencing nano zone warnings that arise from asan+macOS (#2177)
Note this will need to be set per-cc_binary, but I don't think there's a good way to avoid that.

I didn't try hijacking the `cc_binary` rule name because that felt a bit excessive. We probably will have a few binaries we want to run directly, but I don't think it needs to be addressed on every last one.

Jon Meow 107848e30f Switch mypy approach to pre-commit (#1234)
I'm treating my PR to mypy bazel integration as dead in the water. Abandoning that approach, this seems to work reasonably well as a replacement. It's actually a slightly newer version of mypy too -- the bazel integration was stuck on an old version.

Note I don't think we're losing much: we shouldn't be writing too much python.
